Uiss, an acronym for Universal Immune System Simulator, represents the culmination of fifteen years of work by Catania’s scientists and fits seamlessly into the realm of computational medicine.

As the name suggests, Uiss is software designed to replicate the immune system’s response to a pathogen and the presence of a drug, both for an individual and groups of individuals, each with distinct immune characteristics. Having undergone successful trials for various conditions, the software is now being employed, not surprisingly, in the context of Covid research.
